CT-Scan
A CT scan, also known as a computed tomography scan, is a medical imaging technique that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the inside of the body. It is like taking a lot of X-ray pictures from different angles and putting them together to make a 3D image.
CT scans are used to look for problems in many parts of the body, such as the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. They can help doctors find things like tumors, infections, or injuries. The scan usually takes about 10-30 minutes and is painless.
During the scan, the patient is made to lie on a table that slides into a large, doughnut-shaped machine. The machine takes the X-ray pictures and sends them to a computer, which puts them together to make the 3D image. Sometimes, the patient may need to drink a special liquid or get an injection to help the doctors see certain parts of their body better.
Different Types of Tests Included in CT-Scan
NCCT Abdomen
NCCT Abdomen in CT-Scan, also known as Non-Contrast CT Abdomen, is a medical imaging test that helps doctors examine the abdomen without using contrast dyes. It provides clear images of the organs, tissues, and structures inside the abdomen, allowing doctors to identify any abnormalities or issues. This test is often used to diagnose conditions such as kidney stones, appendicitis, or abdominal pain.
CECT Abdomen
CECT Abdomen, or Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography of the Abdomen, is a medical imaging test that uses X-rays and a special dye to create detailed images of the organs and structures inside your abdomen. It helps doctors diagnose conditions like tumors, infections, and injuries. The dye, called contrast, is injected into a vein and travels through your bloodstream, making certain areas show up more clearly on the CT scan images.
HRCT - Chest
HRCT (High-Resolution Computed Tomography) is a special type of CT scan that takes detailed pictures of the lungs. It helps doctors see small changes in the lung tissue that may not show up on regular chest X-rays. HRCT scans are often used to diagnose lung diseases like emphysema, fibrosis, and lung cancer.
HRCT - Temporal
HRCT-Temporal is a specialized CT scan that focuses on the temporal bone, located near the ear. It provides detailed images of the inner ear, middle ear, and surrounding structures. This scan helps doctors diagnose conditions such as hearing loss, ear infections, and abnormalities in the temporal bone. HRCT-Temporal is an important tool for evaluating ear-related issues and guiding appropriate treatment.
NCCT - Head / Brain
A CT (Computed Tomography) scan of the head or brain, also known as a NCCT (Non-Contrast CT), is a medical imaging test that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the skull and brain. It helps doctors identify any abnormalities, injuries, or diseases in these areas. The test is painless and usually takes about 10-30 minutes. Patients may be asked to hold their breath briefly during the scan to avoid blurry images.
CT - Cardiac / Angiography
Cardiac CT angiography is a non-invasive imaging test that uses X-rays to create detailed pictures of your heart and blood vessels. It helps doctors see if there are any blockages or problems with your heart. The test is quick and painless, and it can be done without going into the hospital.
CT- Guided Biopsy
A CT-guided biopsy is a medical procedure where a small sample of tissue is taken from the body using a needle. This sample is tested for diseases like cancer. A CT scan is used to guide the needle to the right spot. The procedure is done to diagnose problems inside the body.
CT - PNS
CT-PNS, or Computed Tomography of the Paranasal Sinuses, is a medical imaging technique that uses X-rays to create detailed images of the sinuses. It helps doctors diagnose sinus problems like infections, tumors, or structural abnormalities.
