Doppler Study

A Doppler study is a medical test that uses sound waves to measure how blood flows through your blood vessels. It’s a non-invasive way for doctors to check for any problems in your arteries or veins.

During the test, a technician will move a small probe called a transducer over the area of your body that needs to be checked. The transducer sends sound waves into your body, and these waves bounce off your moving blood cells. The transducer then picks up the reflected sound waves and forwards them to a computer.

The computer analyzes the sound waves and creates a picture of your blood flow. This picture helps doctors see if there are any blockages or narrowed areas in your blood vessels. Doppler studies are often used to check for conditions like peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, or carotid artery disease.

Different Types of Tests Included in Doppler Study

Renal Doppler

Renal Doppler is a type of ultrasound that checks how blood flows through your kidneys. It helps doctors see if there are any problems with the blood vessels in your kidneys. The test is quick, painless, and safe. It uses sound waves to create images of the blood flow in your kidneys. Doctors can use this information to diagnose and treat kidney problems.

Carotid Doppler

Carotid Doppler is a type of ultrasound test that checks the blood flow in the carotid arteries located in your neck. It helps doctors see if there are any blockages or narrowing in these important blood vessels that supply blood to your brain. The test is quick, painless, and uses sound waves to create images of the blood flow.

Peripheral Arterial Doppler

Peripheral Arterial Doppler is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to examine blood flow in the arteries of the legs and arms. It helps doctors identify blockages or narrowing in the arteries, which can cause pain or discomfort. It provides valuable information about the health of the arteries and helps guide treatment decisions.

Varicose Vein & DVT Doppler

Varicose Vein & DVT Doppler are types of Doppler studies that check for problems in your veins. Varicose Vein Doppler looks for swollen, twisted veins, while DVT Doppler checks for blood clots, usually in your legs. These tests use sound waves to see how blood flows through your veins. They help doctors find and treat vein issues early.

Obst. Doppler Study

An Obstetric Doppler study is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to evaluate blood flow in the umbilical cord and placenta during pregnancy. It helps doctors assess the health of the baby and detect any potential issues. The test is very efficient as it takes only a few minutes and is completely painless.

Scrotal Doppler

Scrotal Doppler checks blood flow in the scrotum. It helps doctors see if there are any problems with the blood vessels or organs in the scrotum, like a twisted testicle or a blood clot. Scrotal Doppler is a type of ultrasound that uses sound waves to check blood flow in the scrotum. It helps doctors see if there are any problems with the blood vessels or organs in the scrotum, like a twisted testicle or a blood clot.
